It was all hands on deck for our hotel photo shoot for Drury Plaza Hotel – Milwaukee Downtown. The hotel had recently opened and there were still some finishing touches being done when we arrived to take pictures. This is where it helps to have a team that understands the importance of working together to capture the shots we needed to showcase their beautiful new property.
The staff at the hotel did a great job getting the rooms ready and their hard work showed. One of the benefits of photographing hotels for Drury is that their rooms are so consistent and their staff has a firm understanding of what is needed to get ready for our arrival.
What Made this Hotel Photo Shoot Unique
Downtown hotels always present a different set of challenges – especially on the exterior twilight shots. The hotel is located smack dab in the middle of downtown on a very busy street. Add that to the fact that it was incredibly cold and windy and we had our work cut out for us.
When we shoot a downtown hotel or a property on a busy street, we have to keep in mind that we are not in control of the car traffic or pedestrian traffic. This one had plenty of both but with a little luck and a lot of perseverance, we got our shots!
Mixing Business With Pleasure
Milwaukee is one of those destinations we look forward to visiting. This was our second downtown Milwaukee shoot so it worked out okay that it was too cold and windy to explore much. The hotel is located on Water Street which is an appropriate name because it is close to the shore and the river. We enjoyed a few quick and cold outings but are looking forward to coming back when we can bring our bicycles and explore the parks that are close by.
