Thanks to everyone at the Holiday Inn Franklin Cool Springs for a true team effort in getting the photo shoot completed. It was one of those shoots where everything fell into place despite lots of challenges! Our approach is to get the shoot done as quickly as possible so that if something unexpected happens, we aren’t stuck. We got this job completed right in time for an event in the lobby that no one knew was happening!

The shoot went well and we celebrated by visiting a restaurant that’s been on our restaurant bucket list. Greg had seen Mojo’s Tacos on one of the food shows on TV and added it to our wish list. The restaurant is located in a cool warehouse and the food was really good but now it’s checked it off the list and we will work on adding a new Nashville area restaurant to our list for next time.

We love the work that we do as Drury’s approved hotel photographer and were especially excited about photographing their brand new Drury Plaza Hotel in downtown Nashville. We drive through Nashville all the time but we rarely get off the interstate when we are driving through.

What Made This Hotel Photo Shoot Unique

As with most photo shoots for new hotels, there were many items that were still being completed. The hotel is simply stunning so it was well worth the effort to work around the items that were being worked on.

The hardest part of photographing busy downtown hotels is capturing the exterior photos – especially the twilight photos. We were presented with a more difficult than normal exterior twilight shot than usual. The hotel is smack dab in the middle of downtown Nashville and it happened that sunset coincided with rush hour AND the end of a Monster Truck show letting out at the coliseum that’s right by the hotel. We had no idea how we were going to capture the shots without cars in the shots.

We always find that things have a way of working out for us and this time we had a little help from one of Nashville’s finest. There was a police officer at the intersection we were shooting from and he graciously offered to adjust the timing of the traffic lights so that Greg could capture the shots!! We shared his information with the team at Drury and we understand that they invited him to bring his family for a staycation!

Mixing Business with Pleasure

Our hotel photography business takes us through Nashville frequently but we are usually on the way to somewhere else! We had such a good time playing tourists in between our hotel photography. We listen to the Highway station on Sirius and always hear them talking about Music Row so that was our first stop. The hotel is just a few blocks from Music Row and surrounded by all of what makes Nashville great.

All in all, this turned out to be a fantastic hotel photo shoot and we are grateful for the entire team at Drury who always works so hard to make our photos turn out so well.

What Made This Hotel Photo Shoot Unique

We always dread the calls to photograph downtown hotels. In fact the last hotel we photographed in downtown Nashville was one of our most challenging exterior shoots because that hotel was located right next to the arena downtown. Between a Monster Truck show and rush hour traffic, that Nashville hotel photo shoot was nerve wracking. Not the case with the Holiday Inn Express & Suites – Nashville MetroCenter Downtown. The brand new hotel is located near downtown Nashville close to Bridgestone Arena but up on a hill away from the craziness of downtown.

As with any new hotel, there were some items on back order and some final touches that were needed but it’s important to get high quality hotel photography on the website as soon as possible after opening. That’s where our experience comes in to make sure that the photos do not reflect any of the pending issues. We worked together to capture the photos they needed and were very pleased with the results.

Mixing Business with Pleasure

This was our second hotel photo shoot in downtown Nashville in less than 6 weeks. On our last visit, we had done the touristy things since we were within walking distance of Music Row. We were there in the middle of February and decided that it would be wise if we skipped touristing this time. Instead we found a great local restaurant that was close by and headed on our way the next day.

The hotel is so conveniently located as a stopping point between our home and my family in Georgia so we expect that we will be frequent guests!
